How to move from Muvy to emberslate
Export your library from Muvy
Export your library from Muvy. It arrives as a ZIP with one CSV per table. Leave it zipped; there is no need to unpack it.
Install emberslate
emberslate is available now on Google Play for Android. Install it and sign in.
Import and review
Choose Muvy in emberslate's import and pick the ZIP. You see what matched, how many episodes and films were found, and can deselect anything before it is saved.
Apply it
Apply the import to your library. Nothing already in your emberslate library is overwritten.
What carries over
- Your series and films, matched by TMDB id
- Every watched episode and film, with its date where Muvy has one
- Repeat plays, counted without doubling anything Muvy already counted
- Your favourites, and your ratings: Muvy's stars become emberslate's ten-point scale
- Titles you saved for later go to your queue; ones you stopped or dropped land in Dropped
Watches Muvy imported from elsewhere without dates arrive undated, and emberslate does not make up a day for them. Your lists, reviews, moods and character picks stay behind, because emberslate has nowhere to put them.
After the move
What you get after the move
- Episode-level progress
- Mark a single episode, everything up to here, a season, or a whole series. Episodes you mark offline sync when you're back.
- A release calendar
- Every upcoming episode and premiere from what you follow, with airtimes shown in your own time zone.
- Stats that read your history
- When you watch, what you finish and drop, the directors you return to, and how your backlog is moving, all from your own records.
- Discussion and friends
- Follow people, compare taste, and talk about the exact episode you just watched.

Questions
Moving from Muvy
Does emberslate sync with Muvy?
No. emberslate imports a Muvy export file once. It does not connect to your Muvy account or keep the two in sync, so after the import you track in emberslate.
What carries over from Muvy?
Your series and films, watched episodes and films with their dates, repeat plays, favourites and ratings. You review the matches before anything is applied, and the import never overwrites entries already in your emberslate library.
What stays behind?
Your lists, reviews, moods and character picks. emberslate reads only your library, watch history, ratings and favourites from the export.
How are my ratings converted?
Muvy rates in stars out of five, including half stars. emberslate rates out of ten, so each half star becomes one point: four stars arrives as 8.
Is emberslate free?
Yes. All emberslate features are currently free, including release reminders, quiet hours, themes, advanced stats and your full timeline history. There is no advertising in the app. Pricing may change as the app grows, and we will explain any change before it affects you.
Is my export stored?
The uploaded file is read in memory and not saved as a file on our servers. The review staging is deleted when you apply or cancel the import, or automatically after seven days.
Is emberslate on iPhone?
Not at the moment. emberslate is an Android app, available now on Google Play. No other platforms have been announced.
Is emberslate connected to Muvy?
No. emberslate is an independent app made by emberfold labs. It is not affiliated with Muvy; it reads the export file Muvy provides.
